Meg - Softball, China Cup and blue skies

What a great way to spend a weekend! We 'snuck' out early from school on Friday - Sarah's 19th birthday!!!- to join Bob and Meg on the school bus to the first of their China Cup softball tournament games - just around the corner from Aberdeen, along Tai Tam Road to Hong Kong International School - they are tucked in the hills overlooking the water, and what a school! American curriculum, with 2 baseball diamonds, music playing over the loudspeaker, and barbecue burgers waiting. SO much fun, and we spent the evening after Meg's team won their first game, down the road again, at our favourite spot - Shek-O beach, enjoying some Thai food, and sitting on the white sand, watching the sun go down. Great birthday day for Sarah!

HKIS school baseball fields, complete with batting area, huge school, probably 4000 students, and great amenities. The day was cool - about 20 degrees, blue skies and a light, cool breeze. Great way to spend outside - doesn't happen often, now we're waiting for the heat and humidity to begin...

A look at the diamond, and the bistro tables, and bbq area. Meg's team in red and black, getting ready!

Sarah, a cheerleader today, and Bob behind, getting the lineup sorted. This is Bob's second time coaching Meg's softball team - they both talk of nothing else now! Meg is the co-captain, and plays shortstop, and pitcher, and what a bat!!! Scored 4 homeruns over the weekend - one grand slam!

Bob warming up the team

Notice the ONLY player not paying attention to coach!

Meg up to bat. Solid hit after hit - she really shone this tournament

They ended up in a nailbiter of a final, against HKIS. Other teams came from Shanghai, Beijing and one from Japan. Loads of fun - and a well-deserved second place finish on Sunday.

Meg's two cronies - Xanthia, from Oz, and Sam Hale (r) - originally from Toronto, but has lived in Korea, China, England and now Hong Kong.

Co-captains Meg and Sam accepting the cup for second place

The team - great weekend!
