Time for a new reno in Qualicum!

QB Renovation for the Bate family!

With our former tenant moving out of 383 Aldous, we had the opportunity to replace carpetting, doors and fix up our house for the month of March, before bringing in a new long-term tenant. So, after bringing Randy and his girlfriend to Qualicum while I was on the Island for Jan's GRAD, we were able to put together a plan of attack. 3 1/2 short weeks later, the tenant was out, and Randy moved in! And here we are! End of March, and our house has never seen so much action - Janet and Randy, and the crew all worked incredibly hard to bring our home back to it's former glory - actually, it looks better than it ever has. Kudos to everyone who helped out - we can't WAIT to see it when we come home this summer! Janet spent a LOT of time taking before, during and after shots, so we could feel like we were a part of it all. Enjoy,

Randy's on the job! A few short hours after the tenant had left, the big truck pulled in!
Before shot of the living room - lots of work to get out all the carpetting, and new paint for the walls...
Before shot from the front door to the livingroom (right) and dining room.

Sarah's room, before

Meg's room, before - loved those pink curtains!

Looking from the dining room to the front door - good weather to start the work!

Randy and Deb loading in - lots of boxes for the new wood floors, throughout! I brought back to Hong Kong a tiny piece of the new flooring - hard to imagine what it's gonna look like :)

Many things to be thrown 'in the bin' - carpetting and underlay, our water tank needed to be replaced, old doors with holes in them, old barbecue.... goes on and on!

First done! The family room - wow, what a difference! And great paint colour, suggested by Jan, with a new paint job on baseboard and trim.

What a relief to see the old brown tub and surround gone!!!!! The new tub is guaranteed to fit Bob:)

Randy painting out the two walls on either side of the fireplace.

Deb painting out Meg's room - good to see the blue go too! I guess it was just time...

The new tub in the main bathroom - can't wait to see the nice, light colour wall tile.

Gorgeous new floor for the dining and front entranceway - lots of action! New ceiling lamp put back into the dining room.

All of the doors had to be replaced, so Randy found a supplier in Duncan, and they look fabulous. Gone are the old brown louvred doors, welcome to the new era!

Janet brought in our friend Ken with Orca landscaping to clean up the yards, and remove TONS of ivy that had grown OVER the neighbour's fence and across the compost heap, and through the two rows of raspberries, and....

It's sure needed some 'love' for the past while. It makes my heart so glad to see it all look taken care of.

And the new livingroom! What a difference!

Aftershot of the diningroom, into the kitchen,

And a shiny, white colour tile around the new tub - no more 'cave' experiences in the shower!

New cupboard doors and floor in the Master bedroom!

Meg's room with new floor, paint and trim - wow!

Sarah's room with new floor, paint, trim and cupboard doors - never looked so good!

Randy did a custom job with the nosing/trim for the stairs, which were extended all the way to the front door, and we removed the small railing. Fabulous!

A new light fixture over the front door, new paint, new floors - unbelievable change! We are so lucky to have had such a great team, under Jan's leadership, to see this job all done in 3 weeks. I hope you enjoyed the slideshow - there will come a day, when we host you all there once again :)
