Beijing bound!
The resting area before you enter the wall itself
The Great Wall wine - tasted awful!
Market at the bottom of the hill - souvenirs anyone?
Tram ride to top of the mountain and the Wall
Tianamen Square - all decked out for the Olympics
Countryside from Beijing north 45 minutes to the Mutianyu section of the Wall
The Forbidden City - note the original cobblestoning
The Forbidden City covers 2km
Dining car - think rice for breakfast lunch and supper!
Entrance to the Forbidden City
The train station, Hung Hom, in HK
Our cabin - I'm the one hanging upside down!
Our first official school holiday trip since arriving in Hong Kong! October is mid-term break, and we spend a week in Beijing. We stayed at a great hotel, owned by a friend of Bob's, and visited the Forbidden City, Tianamen Square, the Great Wall, and shopping.... It was a really fun train trip from Hong Kong to Beijing - 25 hours! The weather was gorgeous - not too hot, and sunny most days - truly a wonderful experience!
